Get your offer

Carmuvo buys cars everywhere in King County: Seattle, Bellevue, Kent, Renton, Federal Way, Auburn, Kirkland, Redmond, Sammamish, Issaquah, Shoreline, Burien, Tukwila, SeaTac, Des Moines, Kenmore, Bothell, Woodinville, Covington, Maple Valley, Newcastle, Mercer Island, Duvall, Carnation, Snoqualmie, North Bend, Black Diamond, Enumclaw and Vashon Island. Answer a few questions about the car, see a real number in about two minutes, and we come to wherever it is parked.

Cars age differently on this side of the water. Eight months of rain leave moss on roof rails and mildew in the seats of anything that lives under a fir tree. Commuters cross the I-90 and 520 bridges twice a day, so an Eastside sedan can be worn out at eight years old and still look presentable in the driveway. Add the hills of Queen Anne and Capitol Hill, and brake and transmission work turns up on cars with otherwise ordinary mileage. None of that offends us. Wet, tired and high-mileage is most of what we buy.

Stolen catalytic converters are their own category here. Somebody parks in Sodo or on a side street in Beacon Hill, comes back to a car that sounds like a tractor, and the repair quote lands near what the whole car is worth. Same story with a hybrid battery on a fifteen-year-old Prius, or a head gasket on the Subaru that has gone over Snoqualmie Pass every winter since 2009. We buy those exactly as they sit, and we say plainly what the number is.

Most pickups around here are not in a driveway. An apartment garage in Ballard with a gate code, a restricted-parking block in the U District, the lot behind a shop in Georgetown, a stall under a Bellevue condo, a space at a park-and-ride that someone has been quietly using for a year. All of it is normal; we need legal access and a way in, nothing more. Routes are planned around the I-5 and I-405 rush hours, so the window we give you is one we can actually keep.

Payment happens at the curb: a check in your hand, or an ACH transfer if you would rather not carry one. Plates come off and stay with you, you sign the title over, and you file the Report of Sale with the Department of Licensing within five business days. That last step is what keeps the next owner's 520 tolls from finding your mailbox. If the title is long gone, say so before the truck is scheduled and we will tell you honestly whether we can still buy the car and what it takes.

Where we pick up, and how soon

Tacoma and Pierce County
Tacoma, Lakewood, University Place, Puyallup, Fife, Spanaway, Federal Way, Auburn, Kent, Gig Harbor — usually within a day or two, often same day.
Puget Sound
Seattle, Everett, Olympia, Bremerton, Bellevue, Renton, Bellingham — usually two to four days, because we run these as a route.
the rest of Washington
Spokane, Vancouver, Yakima, Tri-Cities, Wenatchee, Bend of the Columbia — up to about a week, and we confirm the date before you commit.

If you can’t find the title

We can usually still buy the car. What we need:

  • the car is registered in your name, or you are the executor of the estate that owns it
  • your photo ID matches the name on the registration
  • any loan on the car is paid off, or your lender is willing to work with us on the payoff

A Washington replacement title takes usually a couple of weeks by mail, or same day at the Department of Licensing offices that offer Quick Title. Sorting it out doesn't change your offer.

What we can’t take on: cars registered to someone we cannot reach — a previous owner who signed nothing; abandoned vehicles left on your property, which the state handles through a registered tow operator.

FAQ

The questions everyone asks first.

Someone stole the catalytic converter off my car. Will you still buy it?

Yes, and it is one of the most common calls we get around Seattle. A missing converter lowers the number, it does not end the sale. Mention it while you answer the questions and the very first offer already accounts for it, so nothing changes when the driver arrives.

My car sits in an apartment garage with a gate code. How does that work?

You either meet the driver downstairs or arrange the code with us beforehand. We do these all week in Ballard, downtown Bellevue and the U District. The car does not have to start or roll out on its own; the crew brings what it needs for a stall pickup.

Do you come out to Vashon Island, Enumclaw or North Bend?

Yes, the whole county including the edges. Those runs are scheduled into a route instead of promised same-day, and Vashon means a ferry, so we confirm a day with you before you commit to anything.

The car has not started in two years and the tabs expired long ago. Is that a problem?

No. Expired tabs do not stop a sale in Washington, and a dead battery after two years is completely ordinary for the cars we buy. What matters is the title being in your name, or a short conversation with us if it is missing.
